The protein kinase Mps1, a crucial regulator of the spindle-assembly checkpoint, now turns out to be essential for correcting errors in chromosome attachment (). Mps1 exerts this effect by regulating the activity of the Aurora B kinase through phosphorylation of its partner protein Borealin.
