Abstract :
In this issue, describe a tissue-specific signal, originating from mitochondria, that acts cell non-autonomously to regulate life span in the nematode, C. elegans. This new finding provides a first step toward resolving the relative contributions of mitochondrial free radical damage and signaling mechanisms in aging.
