A Critical Discourse Analysis of the Event of September 11, 2001 in American and Syrian Print Media Discourse

با هدف نشان دادن نقش مهم گفتمان مطبوعات نوشتاري در انتقال ضمني ايدولوژي غالب بر بافت گفتمان، تحقيق داده- محور حاضرتلاش كرده است مشخص كند كه چطور توليد كنندگان گفتمان ويژگي هاي واژگاني تكرار و هم معنايي و ويژگي هاي دستوري و موضوعي مجهول سازي، اسم سازي و موضوع بندي مسندي راجهت انتقال طرز تفكر خاص جامعه خود به خوانندگان هدف به كار برد ه اند تا درك و برداشت مورد نظر خود از حادثه 11 سپتامبر 2001 رابه آنها القا كنند. با استفاده از روش تحليل آماري مقايسه اي گفتمان مطبوعاتي نوشتاري داده هاي تحقيق از دو بافت امريكايي و سوري كه از لحاظ ايداولوژي حاكم بر جامعه در دو قطب مخالف قرار دارند، تلاش بر اين شد كه مشخص شود چطور توليد كنندگان گفتمان رويكردهاي موضوعي و واژگاني مختلف را به كار گرفته اند تا تصاوير و برداشت هاي كاملا متفاوت از حادثه را در اذهان خواننده ها متبادر كنند و به صورت ضمني ايداولوژي حاكم بر جامعه خود را بر ذهن آنها غالب كنند.

Aiming at highlighting the important role of print media discourse in the implicit transfer of the dominant ideology of discourse context, the present data-driven paper demonstrates how the lexical features of repetition and synonymy as well as the structural and thematic features of passivization, nominalization and predicated theme were utilized by the discourse producers to mediate between their own underlying ideology and the target readersʹ understanding of the events of September 11, 2001. Through a comparative statistical analysis of the print media discourse of the data for the study written in two ideologically opposing contexts of Syria and America, we have tried to explicate how the discourse producers utilized various lexical and thematic strategies to produce different impressions of the event and implicitly impose the underlying ideology on the readers.
