Abstract
The voltammetric characteristics of uranium(VI) oxinate in chloroform at a mercury electrode are investigated. The conditions for obtaining the adsorptive polarograms were optimized. Preceded by a solvent extraction of U(VI) oxinate in chloroform, uranium is determined at μM concentration level. The calibration graph was linear over the range 0.5–80 μM and the detection limit was 0.4 μM of uranium. The relative standard deviation of 5 μM of uranium solution is 1.5%. The method was used for the determination of uranium in uranium mineral ores after digestion of the samples in nitric acid and extraction of U(VI) oxinate with the aid of 0.05 M oxine solution in chloroform.
