Abstract :
A new chemiluminescence method has been developed for the determination of chlorogenic acid by using the inhibition by chlorogenic acid of the chemiluminescence reaction of luminol-potassium hexacyanoferrate(111). The method is simple, convenient and sensitive with a detection limit of 5.2 × 10−9 g/ml. It is applicable to the determination of chlorogenic acid in the range 1 × 10−8–1 × 10−5 g/ml. The method has been successfully applied to determine chlorogenic acid in cigarettes. Furthermore, the inhibition mechanism was also discussed in this paper.
