Abstract :
The adsorptive and voltammetric characteristics of Cu(II) complexes with guanine, guanosine and adenosine on a hanging mercury-drop electrode in 0.195 mol/l Na2HPO4−0.0028 mol/l citric acid buffer (pH = 8.0) were investigated. The reactants and products, as well as the number of electrons involved in the reaction, were determined. A new method based on separation of mixtures of guanine-guanosine, adenine-adenosine and adenine-guanine by capillary zone electrophoresis followed by adsorption voltammetric detection was proposed. The method was applied to the determination of adenine and guanine in the hydrolytic product of calf thumus-DNA with satisfactory result.
