Abstract :
Poly(1-aminoanthracene) films were electropolymerized on platinum electrodes. The potentiometric response of these electrodes prepared under different experimental conditions was analyzed, and the polymeric film prepared without pyridine showed a better response as a pH sensor than that prepared in the presence of pyridine. The electrodes showed an apparent Nernstian response in the 1–12 pH range, with a slope of 52.5 mV/decade. The electrodes prepared from 10 mM 1-aminoanthracene in acetonitrile with 0.1 M tetrabutylammonium perchlorate as the supporting electrolyte showed performance superior to the other electrodes tested. An important result from the pH determinations is that for the poly(1-aminoanthracene) electrodes no interference was observed in the solutions containing different alkaline ions.
