Abstract
A smoothed window factor analysis (SWFA) based on smoothed principal component analysis (SPCA) is developed. The new method proposed possesses some attractive advantages over common window factor analysis (WFA). It can increase signal to noise ratio. The results of the simulated and real experiments showed SWFA can still perform well under the situations when the spectra of chemical compounds are very similar to each other, and there exist minor components or the signal to noise ratio is very low.
