Abstract :
A new type of Al2O3 sol–gel derived glucose biosensor is developed. The enzyme electrode comprises glucose oxidase immobilized in the Al2O3 sol–gel matrix on a platinized glassy carbon electrode. Platinum black not only provides a big specific surface area but also enhances the adhesion of the sol–gel film. The operational parameters such as the preparation conditions of Al2O3 sol–gel, the operating potential of the working electrode, and pH effect of response are tested for optimum analytical performance by using an ampermetric method. Linear calibration for glucose is obtained in the range 4.00×10−5–2.19×10−2 mM under the optimized conditions. The biosensor was stable for at least two weeks.
