Abstract
Dissociation constants of a series of substituted phenols and their tetrabutylammonium salts were determined in tetrahydrofuran by potentiometric and conductometric methods. The resolution of acid strength in this solvent was compared with those obtained in other amphiprotic and aprotic solvents. The resolution of acid strength of phenols and benzoic acids in tetrahydrofuran was higher than in water, and better than that in any of the other solvents considered.
