Abstract
A high-performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) method has been developed for the detection of organic phosphorous insecticides (dichlorvos(DDVP), isocarbophos and methyl parathion). In addition to a traditional method using UV detection, we developed an alternative method based on chemiluminescent reaction of organic phosphorous insecticides with luminol and hydrogen peroxide. The sample containing organic phosphorous insecticides was injected into a Hypersil ODS column (5 μm 4.6×100 mm) and eluted with methanol:water (60:40 (v/v)). The chemiluminescence (CL) response is linear to the concentration of DDVP, isocarbophos and methyl parathion, respectively. Most metal ions and organic compounds tested do not interfere with the determination.
