Alternative method for the measurement of ammonium nitrogen in wastewater Original Research Article

A simple and rapid procedure has been developed for ammonium nitrogen determination in wastewater. A peroxodisulfate/far UV photooxidation step is used both in acidic and alkaline conditions for the specific conversion of ammonium into nitrate. Nitrate concentration is then measured with UV spectrophotometry.
