Determination of enantiomeric excess of dextropropoxyphene and α-(+)-oxyphene by chiral high-performance liquid chromatography Original Research Article

Enantiomeric excess (% e.e.) of dextropropoxyphene [(1S,2R)-(+)-1-benzyl-3-dimethylamino-2-methyl-1-phenylpropylpropionate] 2, an opioid drug and its precursor, α-(+)-oxyphene 1 is usually determined on the basis of its optical rotation. In this communication, we report determination of enantiomeric excess of 1 and 2 by chiral HPLC on Chiralcel o.d. (Daicel Chemical Industries, Japan).
