Abstract
In this paper, an infrared hollow waveguide sampler was developed toward sensing of chlorinated aromatic amines in aqueous solutions. To effectively increase the sensitivity of this method, the hydrophobic film materials were carefully considered and studied. Results indicated that polyacrylonitrile-co-butadiene provided the best performance among the examined polymers. To obtain the optimal detection conditions, factors such as the sampling flow rate, sampling time, hydrophobic film thickness and pH value of the sample were investigated. Results indicated that examination of the analytical signals for seven chloroanilines in the concentration range 0–50 μg ml−1, the obtained R2 coefficients of the calibration graphs were in the range 0.996–0.999. By adding 100 scans with 4 cm−1 resolution, the estimated 3σ detection limit was <100 ng ml−1.
