Abstract :
The research purpose is to carry out an investigation into the effectiveness of Bandura’s social-cognitive career counseling training in the decrease of dysfunctional career thinking of male employees working in the educational centers. Hence, the research employed a semi-experimental design. A sample of 100 males’ employees of educational centers in Abdanan Province was randomly selected and filled out Dysfunctional Thinking Questionnaire designed and developed by Kasayi(2005). Thirty individuals who had scored higher on dysfunctional thinking were randomly selected and assigned to the experimental and control groups. The experimental group underwent eight 90-minute sessions of Bandura’s social-cognitive career counseling and the posttest was performed subsequent to the training. Results using covariance analysis indicated that Bandura’s social-cognitive career counseling was effective in decreasing the dysfunctional career thinking of male employees working in the educational centers of Abdanan Province. Significant difference was observed in others’ approval thoughts (p=.000), inability thoughts (p=.000), confusion thoughts (p=.000), lack of opportunity thoughts (p=.000). However, no effectiveness was observed with regard to perfectionism thoughts (p=.090).
