Abstract
The rheology of zirconia (3Y-TZP) and nickel particles suspended in aqueous medium in the presence of a surfactant have been systematically investigated. A detailed characterization of the powders has allowed understanding the stability of metal and ceramic powders in aqueous medium. By controlling the rheological parameters such as solid content and surfactant content it is possible to obtain different microstructures. Their optimization has led to homogeneous materials suitable for structural and multifunctional applications. The sintering cycle has been adjusted in order to avoid the presence of nickel oxide in the final compacts.
