Abstract
The oxidation kinetics of AlN–SiC–TiB2 composite in air has been investigated in terms of a theoretical analysis associated with the experiment data. The effects of temperature and temperature heating rate on the oxidation reaction have been discussed by using the “characteristic oxidation time”. The results show that the calculated results by our model can give a good agreement with the experimental data. From this study it is shown that, the “characteristic oxidation time” is a very useful parameter for comparing the property of oxidation resistance for different composites.
