Globally collective effects in open quantum systems

We studied the behaviour of open quantum systems as a function of the coupling strength to one decay channel in a simple scattering model. Under critical conditions a reorganization of the spectrum occurs that causes a bifurcation of the time scales. We derive analytically the condition under which the reorganization process can be understood as a second-order phase transition.
