Abstract
A model Hamiltonian is proposed for the localization–delocalization transition in quantum dots. By considering most relevant degrees of freedom, we obtain a finite dimensional Hilbert space. Through exact diagonalization, we find the ground state energies of the system as the number of electrons is varied. This explains the peculiar pattern of the electron addition energies, which are measured as a function of the top and side gate voltages.
