Abstract :
We employ a hysteretic Josephson junction in on-chip detection of shot noise generated in a tunnel junction. The switching rate of the detector from its supercurrent state displays an asymmetry with respect to the direction of the mean current through the noise source. The detector operates in a high-frequency regime with the relevant bandwidth set by its plasma frequency View the MathML source. Assuming close to Gaussian noise, we discuss a model relating the measured asymmetry to the third cumulant of shot noise.
