Abstract :
We present the full quantum mechanical model to study the dynamics of an electron in an isotropic 2D quantum dot, interacting with an external quantized electromagnetic field. To this end a Hamiltonian which includes the confining (gate) effects as a two-dimensional isotropic harmonic oscillator and the proper interacting terms is used to establish the time-evolution operator, and calculate the field population and time varying electron dynamical variables. We demonstrate that the expectation values of physical quantities such as photon mean number, electron position from the dot center, and the population of energy subbands oscillate uniformly or collapse and revive periodically, depending on the initial state of the field and its intensity.
