Abstract
The electrical conductance of one-dimensional (1D) electrons confined in the channels created on the surface of liquid helium was measured as a function of temperature down to View the MathML source. A peak around View the MathML source, which was the evidence for 1D character originating in the intersubband transitions, was observed for the first time. The result of the temperature dependence is in agreement with an existing theory for 1D electron system. Below View the MathML source, the electrons occupy the ground state and behave as nearly ideal 1D system.
