Abstract :
The system is one-dimensional (1D) like when only the lowest Landau level is occupied in a strong magnetic field. We investigate many-body effects on the tunneling of electrons in a strong magnetic field. We show that the treatments of the electron–electron interaction are important. The temperature dependence of the transmission probability is qualitatively similar to that of a 1D system. We also investigate the Peierls transition induced by a strong magnetic field, and show that the Peierls gap vanishes by a magnetic field.
