Abstract
The dwell time is defined as the ratio of the number of particles inside the quantum cavity to the incident flux. It is calculated semiclassically, showing that for a large weakly open chaotic quantum dot, this quantity can be expressed as a summation over periodic orbits that are well coupled to the entrance tunneling barrier.
