Abstract
The vibrational spectrum of monochloroacetylene (HCCCl) is calculated by algebraic techniques under the hypothesis that there is an underlying dynamical U(4) symmetry with the chain of subalgebras U(4)⊃O(4)⊃O(3). The results are compared with the 24 experimentally available vibrational lines and the mean square deviation is found to be 4 cm−1.
