  • Abstract
Rate constants are reported for the vibrational deactivation of the asymmetric stretching and bending modes of CO2. A large number of collision partners has been studied and the results span the temperature range 300 to 140 K. The measurements were made using the laser induced fluorescence technique. CO2 was pumped directly to the CO2(00o1) level by an HBr laser whereas excitation of the CO2(0110) level was by collisional pumping from CD4 excited with a CO2 laser. These results show differences between the behaviour of these two vibrational modes and agree well with the majority of previous data available for comparison.
