  • Abstract
The kinetics of the two processes (radical oxidation and phenanthrene phosphorescence quenching by oxygen) caused by diffusion of O2 molecules, have been studied in the glassy matrix of 2-methylpentanol-2. It has been established that: (i) the annealing near Tg and the creation of a high N2 concentration in the matrix accelerate both oxidation and the process of phosphorescence quenching; (ii) the influence of annealing on both oxidation and phosphorescence quenching is smaller than that of nitrogen dissolving in the matrix; (iii) the temperature rise leads to the decrease of the influence of N2 and annealing on oxidation and phosphorescence quenching. A similar character of the abovementioned influence on both the kinetics of radical oxidation and phosphorescence quenching confirms our recent conclusion on the existence of deep traps for gas molecules in low-molecular glasses.
