Abstract
The KHg excimer in the 2 2Π state was produced in the photochemical reaction between K2(C1Πu) and Hg(61S0). The KHg 2 2Π−1 2Σ+ transition was observed at about 640 nm. We performed quantum mechanical spectral simulations for the KHg 2 2Π−1 2Σ+ transition, using potential energy curves calculated by Czuchaj et al. [Chem. Phys. Lett. 199 (1992) 47]. Absorption of the KHg chemiluminescence by the overlapping K2 XB transition was studied in detail. Other KHg transitions observed to date in different experiments are discussed.
