Abstract :
In this report the theoretical and experimental morphology of p-xylene crystals growing from both the pure melt and a mixture of about 31 % o-xylene and 69% of p-xylene will be discussed. All above mentioned morphologies agree quite well with each other. The experimental forms found are 100, 001, 201 and 110. The actual roughening temperatures can be scaled, using the non-observed stable forms, and regarding them as being rough at the actual growth temperature. Also in comparison of the morphology of napthalene and p-xylene is made.
