Abstract
The photoelectron spectrum of pyridine (C5H5N) including inner and outer valence regions is obtained over a wide photon energy range (50–100 eV) using high resolution synchrotron photoelectron spectroscopy (PES). Fifteen peaks corresponding to ionization out of fifteen main orbitals and two correlation (satellite) peaks at binding energies 21.55 and 24.28 eV are observed. Comparison of the experimental PES spectra with the ADC(3) calculations show a high level of agreement between experiment and theory. The results of ADC(3) calculations are used to assign the dominant orbital symmetry of the observed peaks in the photoelectron spectrum.
