Abstract :
The main thermodynamic properties of a two-dimensional Lennard-Jones system, the Helmholtz free energy and the pressure, are obtained by using accurate analytical equations for the corresponding three-dimensional system. The thermodynamic shift from three- to two-dimensional properties is made by scaling the temperature and simultaneously adding an analytical expression to the three-dimensional Helmholtz free energy.
