Abstract :
Inorganic additives, Na2S·9H2O, Na2MoO4·2H2O, Na2CrO4·4H2O, Na2S2O3·5H2O, MgSO4·7H2O and V2O5 were added in 1 N aqueous sulfuric acid solution to see the effects on the electrolytic hydrogenation of Ti–6Al–4V (Ti-64) alloy under various operating parameters. Characterization of their behavior was realized by the employment of glow discharge optical spectrometry (GDOS), X-ray diffractometry (XRD) and potential monitoring. Categorization of these chemical additives according to their hydrogen uptake behavior and comparison of the results for Ti–6Al–4V alloy with those for ferrous alloys were also performed.
