Abstract :
A series of catalysts supported on layered silica material were synthesized in order to examine possibility of application of this material as catalytic support. A catalytic activity of synthesized materials was tested in toluene hydrogenation reaction – important model reaction for removal of aromatic fraction from petroleum products. Synthesized silica was modified with titania supported with platinum. Physical and chemical properties were studied with low-angle powder XRD, SEM and nitrogen adsorption at 77 K. Chemisorption of H2 was used in estimation of Pt dispersion. At high conversion of toluene, methylcyclohexane was formed as the only product and it was established that deposited titania significantly improves catalytic behavior. Moreover the relations between supported material and interlayer spaces were found.
