Abstract :
The copper content in electroless Ni–Cu–P–PTFE (PTFE=polytetrafluoroethylene) composite coatings mainly depends on the Cu2+ concentration in the plating solution and has a significant effect on the corrosion resistance of the coatings. The effect of the Cu2+ concentration in the plating solution on the deposition rate and coating composition was studied. The coating thickness and their compositions were measured using a digital micrometer and energy-dispersive X-ray microanalysis. The effect of the copper content on the corrosion properties of Ni–Cu–P–PTFE coatings in 1.0N HCl and 20% NaCl solutions was investigated.
