Abstract
The polymer electrolyte composed of a polyethylene oxide (PEO) polymer and NaBiF4 as a salt were prepared using solution cast technique. The complexation of the films was investigated through X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies. Measurements of DC conductivity in the temperature range 300–370 K and transference numbers using Wagnerʹs polarization technique have been carried out to investigate the charge transport in this polymer electrolyte system. The electrical conductivity of the films was found to increase with increasing do pant concentration. The conductivity–temperature plots are found to follow an Arrhenius nature, which showed the decrease in activation energy with the increasing salt concentration. The charge transport in this polymer electrolyte system is predominantly due to ions as was observed from the transference number measurement data. Using the polymer electrolyte, solid-state electrochemical cells were fabricated. The various cell parameters are evaluated and compared with earlier reports.
