Abstract :
In order to design the components made of multi-heterogeneous materials for high-tech applications, a new design method has been developed and is implemented from functional requirements in high-tech applications to a component’s configuration, to material properties, and to material microstructures and/or constituent compositions. Based on the new design method, this paper develops a detailed approach for the second phase (i.e., determining the optimal material properties needed in different regions of a component according to its functional requirements in high-tech applications) and its corresponding computer software prototype. As an example for applying the approach and the software prototype, the determination of material properties of different regions for a special piston made of multi-heterogeneous materials is also illustrated in the paper.
