Abstract :
An iron base composite, reinforced with (Ti,V)C particles ,was produced in situ by means of powder metallurgy. The microstructure and wear-resistance of the Fe–(Ti,V)C composite were studied with the help of scanning electron microscopy, electron probe and X-ray diffraction. The results show that rounded (Ti,V)C particles exhibit fine size and homogeneous distribution in α–Fe matrix. The Fe–(Ti,V)C composite possesses great wear-resistance under the condition of dry sliding with heavy loads.
