Sorting-based partial distortion search algorithm for motion estimation

A fast motion-estimation algorithm based on partial block distortion for sorted significant pixels is proposed. The proposed algorithm can obtain very accurate motion vectors with a reduced computational load. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme gives the same performance as the full search, while it is about 6-10 times faster than the full search.
