Abstract :
The present paper proposes a model for phase change heat transfer to binary mixtures at high qualities (annular flow regime). Use is made of a Colburn–Drew type formulation for calculation of interfacial parameters (mass fluxes, compositions and temperature). It is observed that, when combined with the hydrodynamic effects due to droplet interchange described in Part I, the formulation gives a very good prediction of bulk and wall temperatures and the deterioration in the heat transfer coefficient reported by Kandlbinder [Experimental investigation of forced convective boiling of hydrocarbons and hydrocarbon mixtures, Ph.D. thesis, University of London, Imperial College, 1997] for forced convective boiling experiments in a vertical, electrically heated, stainless steel, 25.4 mm ID test section using binary hydrocarbon mixtures.
