  • Abstract
    A fibre-optic torsion sensor based on a long-period fiber grating written by high-frequency CO/sub 2/ laser pulses is proposed and has been demonstrated. Such a torsion sensor cannot only measure the applied twist rate directly, but also determine the twist direction simultaneously.
