Effect of body gaps on conformal automotive antennas

The electromagnetic effects of the hood, trunk and door gaps of an automobile body are discussed. The results of a set of theoretical simulations and experimental measurements are presented to show the impact of such gaps on the input impedance gain patterns of automobile conformal antennas.
