Transition Metal Complexes in Organic Synthesis. Part 61: Convergent Synthesis of Indolo[2,3-b]carbazole by an Iron-Mediated Bidirectional Annulation of Two Indole Rings

A highly convergent synthesis provides indolo[2,3-b]carbazole in two steps and 36% overall yield from commercial m-phenylenediamine by a double iron-mediated consecutive C–C and C–N bond formation featuring the first double iron-mediated arylamine cyclization.
