Separation and Characterization of [60]Fullerene Bisadducts Modified by 4,5-Dimethoxy-o-quinodimethane

The reaction of [60]fullerene with the o-quinodimethane species generated from 1,2-bis(bromomethyl)-4,5-dimethoxybenzene (1) was examined. Among possible regioisomers of bisadducts 2, seven isomers (trans-1, trans-2, trans-3, trans-4, e, cis-3, and cis-2) were isolated by HPLC and characterized on the basis of NMR, FAB-MS, and/or UV–Vis spectroscopies.
