Synthesis of Chiral Piperazinones as Versatile Scaffolds for Peptidomimetics

Chiral piperazinones were synthesized as conformationally restricted peptidomimetics starting from inexpensive and readily available d-glucosamine hydrochloride and amino acid methyl esters. Different synthetic strategies are devised to allow attachment of side chains imitating the parent peptide as shown for the RGD motif.
