Abstract :
5-Substituted 7-methoxy-2-(4- or 3-methoxyphenyl)-4(1H)-quinolones have been synthesised in good yields from the corresponding 7-methoxy-2-(4- or 3-methoxyphenyl)-5-trifluoromethanesulfonate-4(1H)-quinolones via palladium-mediated cross-coupling reactions or aromatic nucleophilic substitution (SNAr) reactions.
