Abstract :
The reaction of spiroepoxycyclohexadienones with TMSCN in the presence of catalytic amounts of Bu4NCN results in the formation of two diastereomeric cyanohydrins. Alternatively, the reaction of with equimolecular amounts of Bu4NCN gave rise to products arising from two other different reaction paths.
