Abstract :
The behavior of tower-type plant items subjected to intense seismic loads is considered. The structure is simulated by an inverse multilink pendulum with nonlinear dependences of the restoring forces and moments. Attention is concentrated on weakening systems whose stress-strain diagrams incorporate a descending portion. The structureʹs foundation acceleration is specified as a stationary random vector process which incorporates vertical and horizontal components of the load. The effect of a correlation between the components of the random process on the specific features of the structureʹs behavior is considered. Seismic risk is estimated by the method of statistical simulation.
