Abstract :
We propose governing relations of the (finite) deformation type for the description of the simple active loadings of metal sheets that are anisotropic because of simple plastic predefonnation from the initial isotropic state. The differential form of the proposed governing relations is presented. We obtain the exact solution of the problem of the stability of a rectangular deformation/anisotropic plate in axial compression. We show for a numerical example (the material is AMg6M) that transverse plastic pre-stretching is an effective means for improving the plastic stability of an axially compressed plate that is made from a hardening material.
