RELATIONSHIPS OF FATIGUE CRACK GROWTH IN CAST STEELS OF RAILCAR STRUCTURES

We present the results of experimental studies of the cyclic cracking resistance of the steels 20L, 25L, 20GL, 20FTL, 20GTL, and 20GFL of the cast side frames and sprung beams of the freight cars. We analyze the statistical relations governing fatigue crack development in these steels and determine the parameters that are needed to calculate the endurance of the cast parts in the fatigue crack development stage with account for the probabilistic nature of the damage accumulation.
