Abstract :
We examine the problem of the growth of the self-oscillations of a taut string under the action of a nonlinear distributed load in the form of an arbitrary function of the transverse velocity of the string, and also with the presence of stationary travel limiters that may be distributed or discrete. The numerical analysis is performed by direct mathematical modeling of the wave processes. It is shown that the frequency of the oscillations and the shape of the deflections of the string in the steady-state selfoscillations vary as a function of the combination of the excitation and damping coefficients.
